Communications 2011

Its Come to that time of year..Christmas is looming upon us and the end of the year also, Weve had a good balance of things happened this year. Various short courses and various people coming to utilise the centre and all it has to offer, we have had new and past students attend throughout the year with sum achieving qualifications and skills in the many different programmes we have held,

Pa O Te Ora hosted quite a few programmes, from cooking to food preparation, gardening and herbgrowing, pickling and bottling, healthy eating, healthy food on a shoestring budget. We all enjoyed these and was open to whom ever would like to attend them and they were awesome days for all. We had an excellent Tutor from the ‘Heart Foundation’ who was more than happy to come and share her time with us and knowledge and skills, we were very lucky to have these short courses out here in Whananaki and we were one of the last to have them held. We had a good turn up of Kaumatua and Kuia every class.

Id like to express my thanks to Pa O Te Ora and to our Kuia Ann Hemara and Irene Walding from Hikurangi for coming along to awhi and tautoko the programmes.

Also this year we have had many students that had attended go into employment with their new skills and with the confidence they gained by attending different classes held on the Marae, Well done to all of them and I wish them cry success for the future and their future employers.

We now come to the end of the year and would like to ” Wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and dont forget to drop in if you are passing thru, bring your skills in and take a work shop, come have a Korero and a cuppa and bring any new ideas that you might have along with you also…

Also want to thank the Ngatiwai Trust Board for making this possible for the Community of Whananaki and also to Allan Moore who is our representative on the board for Whakapaumahara Marae. Also a big thanks to Merepeka Henley which is the Programme Manager and also to our Technicians Kurt Henderson and Andre Ducrot. Also last but not least a Thanks to the Whakapaumahara Marae Trustees.

We look forward to seeing you all in the New Year and seeing more new faces and new skills and events held…we have an open door policy so this open to the Community and wider Community.
